Understanding Google Invoices and VAT

Value-added tax (VAT) is a broad consumption tax assessed on the value added to goods and services as they move through the supply chain. As with other consumption taxes, including goods and services tax (GST) or retail sales taxes, consumers pay this tax as part of their purchases.

When submitting an invoice to Google for payment, it's essential to ensure that your invoice meets all requirements to avoid rejection. Here are some key points to consider:

* The invoice should contain a description of the goods and/or services purchased.

* The proper amount (net amount, tax or VAT if applicable, gross amount) must be displayed on the invoice.

* The invoice date and number (preferably without special characters) should be visible.

* The bill-to address should include the full Google entity address and VAT number (if applicable).

* The invoice should contain a Purchase Order (PO) number if applicable.

* The supplier name and address should also be included on the invoice.

Invoices can have different statuses as they are processed by Google's ERP systems:

* Cancelled: Indicates that the invoice has been cancelled.

* Paid: Indicates that the supplier has been paid the invoiced amount.

* Rejected: Indicates that Google has rejected the invoice due to missing data or failed validations.

* Approved: Indicates that the invoice is sent to Google and they have verified and approved it against purchase orders and receipts.

* Sent: Indicates that the invoice is sent to Google but they have not yet verified it against purchase orders and receipts.

To check the status of your invoice, you can log in to Ariba using your credentials or refer to the email notification received after submitting the invoice. If you are transacting with Google via the Ariba Network, follow these steps:

* Enter your login credentials in Ariba.

* The invoice status will appear.
